Monitoring and evaluation are essential for civil society organizations (CSOs), as they help strengthen social programs, ensure accountability, and deliver better solutions for people. With this purpose, Fundación Luksic, CLEAR LAC, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile held the third edition of the course “Design and Evaluation of CSO Initiatives,” which brought together nearly 30 professionals from various institutions across the country.
With a practical approach, the training provided tools applicable to the participants’ daily work. During the closing session, held on Thursday, September 4, attendees shared learnings and experiences, and reviewed real case studies presented by Fundación Chile and Conecta Mayor UC, whose programs were analyzed during classes. Former students, such as Catalina Justiniano from Fundación Olivo and Nicolás Sanhueza, also shared how they have applied what they learned in their projects, highlighting the positive impact it has had on managing their initiatives.
Macarena Cea Martínez, CEO of Fundación Luksic, emphasized the importance of evaluation in social work: “We hope that what you have learned in this course will have a positive impact on your organizations, just as it has in ours, and that it will strengthen the trust of the people we serve. Because when we are effective, what we generate is trust and hope.”
For his part, Ignacio Irarrázaval, Director of the UC Center for Public Policy and board member of CLEAR LAC, stressed: “Even though we are nonprofit, and we want to build the public good and collaborate, society today demands accountability. Being able to define objectives and systematically show results is a way to rebuild trust in civil society organizations.”
Fundación Luksic congratulates the students who were part of this third edition and reaffirms its commitment to strengthening monitoring and evaluation, convinced that these tools are key drivers to building greater trust, creating stronger impact, and generating more opportunities to transform lives.
