During the first week of October, the London School of Economics (LSE) visited Chile to present its postgraduate programs to Chilean students and professionals. The university, in collaboration with the Luksic Foundation, has created the Luksic Scholarships, an initiative designed to broaden access to international academic opportunities and foster the development of changemakers with a strong public-service vocation.

During the visit, Nathan Brennan, Student International Recruitment Officer at LSE, led a series of meetings and activities with universities and prospective applicants. The goal was to strengthen the relationship between LSE and Chilean higher education institutions, while promoting greater diversity and representation of Chilean talent in the school’s postgraduate programs.

LSE, globally recognized for its excellence in the social sciences and its focus on global issues related to economics, politics, and society, visited four universities alongside the Luksic Foundation: Universidad Alberto Hurtado (UAH), Universidad de Santiago de Chile (USACH), and the Institute of International Studies at Universidad de Chile (IEI).

At each institution, Brennan met with academic and international relations teams to explore potential collaborations and share insights about LSE’s postgraduate admissions process. He also led a workshop on how to prepare a competitive application, which attracted over 40 attendees interested in pursuing studies abroad. The visit concluded with LSE’s participation in the BMI and Times Higher Education recruitment fair, where the university engaged with nearly 200 potential applicants.

Why LSE is Interested in Attracting Chilean Students

“We are pleased to see the interest and talent of Chilean students. We aim to continue strengthening the participation of students from across the country, ensuring that the LSE experience reflects Chile’s diversity and shared commitment to addressing global challenges,” said Nathan Brennan.

Luksic Scholars at the London School of Economics

Since 2020, 36 Chileans have been selected as Luksic Scholars to pursue a Master in Public Administration (MPA) or a Master in Public Policy (MPP) at LSE through the Luksic Scholarships: an initiative by the Luksic Foundation that aims to expand access to leading international programs and support professionals committed to public and social development.

This visit reinforces the joint commitment of LSE and the Luksic Foundation to deepen academic ties between Chile and the United Kingdom, and to continue creating opportunities that empower Chilean talent on the global stage.

Applications for the 2026 Luksic Scholarships are now open, offering Chilean students and professionals the opportunity to access world-class postgraduate programs and strengthen their capacity as changemakers dedicated to public service.
